Scarlett’s POV
It was the day of the art exhibition. Finally, I would get to see my paintings displayed in an art gallery. The exhibition was starting in an hour, and I was wearing a red mermaid-cut dress with silver heels and a pearl necklace. I hadn’t left my room yet so that William wouldn’t see me just yet. Olive wanted us to leave together. So, both guys were waiting for us downstairs.
My memories of when I was little and used to draw were hazy. I only remember my mom telling me that I did well, although I also remember Dad telling me I was losing my mind. That drawing wouldn’t get me anywhere, but I doubt it’s true, and I doubt he really meant it. Lately, I’ve thought of my parents as people who lost their way in life, who didn’t have a specific direction, and who struggled to dream beyond their own noses.
