Chapter 6
Carolina entered a room. Thanks to the light from the hallway, she could make out the arrangement of objects. But it appeared empty, filled only with an eerie coldness and a faint lingering scent.
“Close the door.” A voice echoed again, this time making Carolina jump in fear. In this situation, she had no choice but to comply. She obediently turned around and closed the door. Once the door was shut, darkness engulfed the room, and Carolina couldn’t see anything.
“Sir, do you… do you want to kill me and my brother? Please… spare my brother,” she stammered, her fear evident in her voice.
“Even if you must die, you will still try to protect your brother. You are a great sister, aren’t you?” His voice was cold and taunting.
“Could… could you turn on the lights, please?” Carolina tried to regain her composure, suppressing her fear.
“I prefer the darkness.” He, indeed, was an enigmatic person, as her colleagues had described him. They had always talked about
