Liliana gazed out the window, lost in thought, checking her phone, perhaps hoping for a call from Anna.

Only Kai and Lucia remained in the yard.

After Liliana left, Kai’s expression turned cold. He pushed Lucia, causing her to fall.

Lucia, on the ground, mocked, “See, Liliana never cared about you, yet you’re still here pining for her.” She tried to hide her twisted ankle from Kai, knowing he wouldn’t care and would mock her instead.

Kai approached Lucia, firmly gripping her chin, his voice cold and emotionless: “I’m warning you, if you interfere with my affairs again, you will regret everything you did today.”

With that, he turned and walked away.

Lucia watched him go, her heart feeling crushed. She thought bitterly, “Kai, do you even realize what would happen to the Shively family without me?” Yet, he never seemed grateful.

Kai paused and half-turned back, hearing her words.

Lucia thought he might be coming back to apologize, but he
