Miranda's POV

I walked into the room where Mia was tied up and found her asleep, peaceful in a way that annoyed me more than it should have, her chest rising and falling as though captivity hadn’t touched her at all.

I signaled to two of my followers, and they poured water across her face until she jolted awake, sputtering and disoriented.

“Hello, Mia,” I said, smirking down at her.

“What are you doing here?” she asked, startled to see me standing over her. “You know what? Come and untie me,” she added, as though the request alone might make it happen.

I laughed at her audacity and asked whether she’d already forgotten how she used to treat me back at Mondragon’s company.

She brushe
