“You look much better now,” Derick said, his gaze sweeping over me with open appreciation as I took my seat across from him.

I felt my face warm under the attention, a little self-conscious beneath his stare. “Thanks, Derick. Your shower is amazing.”

He chuckled. “Glad you enjoyed it. Come on, let’s eat. I wish you will enjoy the meal,” he said, smiling.
