Sophia’s POV

After we arrived at Derick’s mansion in the city, he and I, along with Anita, one of his most trusted followers, dressed and headed to the company together, the tension of the last few days still clinging to all three of us despite the fresh start the move was supposed to represent.

Every eye in the building seemed to follow us as we walked through, until we finally reached the board meeting, where the other members were already waiting. Derick took his seat at the head of the table like the leader he was, and the meeting began.

One by one, board members stood to offer their opinions on the company’s financial troubles, each of them clearly rehearsed, having discussed the crisis among themselves long before this meeting began.
