Derick Mondragon's POV
I'd barely settled into my chair when Mia burst into the office behind me, already mid-argument, her frustration from the night before clearly having festered rather than faded.
Mia was yelling before I'd even sat down. "Why did you let him go? He came here to attack us, and you just let him leave!"
"Stop yelling at me, Mia. I'm still your Alpha, and I'd like a little respect," I said, holding up a hand to slow her down.
She caught herself, though the anger didn't fully leave her voice. "I'm sorry. I just, I don't understand why you didn't fight him. We can't let the Night Walkers get away with this."
"They won't. But charging in blind gets people killed. My people," I said.
