Chapter 5
"But a villa isn't just a few million dollars. We only have a few people, so anywhere is fine."
Isabella couldn't help but worry, as land prices in Blue Sea City kept rising, those expensive villas had great locations, and the people living there weren't simply wealthy but also great power.
"Your father's condition requires a place with clean air for recuperation. I can handle it. I've been able to take care of you."
"But..."
Despite Matthew's words, Isabella was still hesitant.
"Oh, it's Isabella. What are you doing here?"
A mocking voice rang out, belonging to Young Master Brown.
His lurch, ample belly, squinted eyes, and face all displayed his lewd nature.
Upon seeing the pale and sallow face, Matthew could tell that the man was indulgent to the point of kidney failure, possibly using stimulants frequently, which also led to a weakened liver. The War God Alpha Wolf wasn't just a mere title. Excelling on the battlefield required skill, fighting prowess, ando a vast array of knowledge.
For he could find himself in danger at any moment.
"Brown... Young Master Brown... hello... Young Master Brown..."
Isabella unconsciously retreated, gripping Matthew's arm tightly, seemingly apprehensive about getting too close to the young master Brown.
The young staff member advising them also looked scared, lowering her head and stepping back a little as if Lionel was a contagious disease that she needed to avoid.
"Mr. Brown, you didn't inform us of your arrival. I couldn't prepare everything accordingly..."
Layla's whiny voice made Matthew's skin crawl, and the young staff member also seemed a bit uncomfortable.
"Hehe, Layla, you're so naughty."
Lionel Brown's blatant and lecherous attitude made everyone uneasy. He laughed in a sleazy manner but quickly turned his attention to Isabella.
"I didn't know Miss White was here. I thought at this time you should be waiting for me at... the hotel, right?"
Looking at Isabella's small, beautiful face, her appealing figure, and her cold demeanor, the more he looked, the more he imagined dominating her, making her moan and beg for mercy, which seemed incredibly delightful.
"This man... She's my wife. Please mind your words."
Matthew couldn't help but speak up since Lionel's face, smile, and gaze lacked goodwill.
He could tell what Lionel was thinking.
"Wife? When did Isabella get a husband... Oh, I remember now. She indeed had a husband, but he was useless. It's you? How come you're back?"
Lionel looked at Matthew, wearing an oversized, military-green coat, his face dark and dusty from the road.
Lionel showed disdain, having heard about Isabella and her husband's story.
He was just a useless son-in-law, and Lionel had more than enough women at his disposal. As long as she pleased him, it didn't matter if she was married or not.
"Pick an apartment. Once your wife pleases me, I'll let you have it under your name. Is that enough?"
Lionel squinted, believing that anything could be solved with money.
Including buying someone else's wife.
"An apartment? That's too cheap."
Matthew replied succinctly.
Isabella trembled inside, not expecting much from him nor trusting him to care for her and her father.
But at least he was her lifebuoy at this moment.
And yet, was he bargaining?
Sensing her slight shiver, Matthew felt a bit helpless and sighed internally.
It was also because he was forced to leave that she lost faith in him, which was his fault.
"Young man, I know you're useless, and that apartment is already a great deal. Your wife... hasn't done anything to please me yet."
Lionel said this, implying that if he wanted more, Isabella had to do something to satisfy him first.
His arrogant expression seemed predetermined.
Layla, seeing that no one paid attention to her and listening to Lionel bargaining for Isabella, felt ignored.
"Mr. Brown, have you forgotten about me? She serves you for an apartment, but I... I've always made you happy without receiving anything, right?"
Her coquettish tone still made everyone's hair stand on end.
Layla seemed afraid of people wouldn't notice her.
"Nothing yet? It would be best if you were not mistaken. That red car outside... I believe it's..."
Brown squinted his eyes, looking at the eye-catching red car outside, accompanied by a lascivious smile.
"But... I'm very, very satisfied indeed."
Although Layla did not say it outright, everyone knew what she insinuated about Lionel.
"Fine, as long as Isabella can satisfy me, I am happy. I'll provide for the house and the car."
He then turned to Isabella, who was trying to hide behind Matthew with the dirtiest gaze possible.
"How about this, my friend? I think a house and a car of that caliber should suffice, since I'm in a good mood. Don't ask for more than that."
"It's still too cheap."
Matthew shook his head with a smirk.
Isabella's disappointment made Matthew tense up, and he continued: "My wife is priceless. Someone like you is not worthy."
Matthew's steely voice only shocked everyone present.
Unconsciously, Isabella looked at him with a slightly bewildered gaze, surprised by his words.
The people around them thought Matthew was a fool for his statement.
"One night, two nights... many nights. Your wife will still be yours, and the house and car will still be yours. What's wrong? Do you still think it's too little? Your wife is only worth a bit more of business benefits, that's all. Ha ha ha."
Lionel felt that the man before him didn't understand the issue and emphasized it mockingly.
"Young Master Brown... what about me..."
Layla, hearing the offer, also wanted a piece of it.
"I repeat, my wife is priceless. Those material things don't match up!" Matthew said again.
Everyone present stared at Matthew in astonishment.
The new employee secretly admired him with an adoring gaze.
Layla scornfully looked at Matthew, thinking he was just a pretentious man.
Lionel just sneered, treating it as a joke, not paying much attention.
"Matthew, let's go."
From behind Matthew, Isabella gently tugged on his hand, deeply touched by his words. But staying here too long was a bad idea, especially with Lionel being someone they shouldn't associate with.
"We need to find a good house first. Let them be!"
Matthew said firmly.
Then he turned to the young employee, signaling her to show them the available houses.
But Lionel, seeing Matthew ignoring his words, felt extremely irritated, as if his pride had been trampled.
He looked at Isabella, who was right before him but couldn't do anything about it, suddenly feeling restless.
The discomfort rose. He was looking at Matthew and became unbearable.
"Hey, bro..."
"Get lost!"
Lionel was frightened by Matthew's imposing presence and unconsciously took a few steps back.
