Nathan opened his phone, looking at the digital clock that was already pointing to five past five. After thinking for a moment, he smiled — he knew Elena’s kids were usually up early to get ready for school.

Nathan walked into the children’s rooms one by one.

Knock-knock-knock.

“Olivia, wake up. It’s Uncle Nathan!” he called as he knocked gently on the door.

It didn’t take long for the door to open slightly. Olivia peeked out with her eyes still half-closed. As soon as she realized who was standing in front of her door, her eyes lit up.

“Uncle Nathan!” she exclaimed softly as she jumped up to hug him.

Nathan chuckled, returning the little girl’s hug.

“Morning, Princess. Come on, get up. Uncle Nathan will make you a nice breakfast.”

Olivia was instantly excited. She ran to her sisters’ room, waking Katty and Delya as she shouted softly, “Uncle Nathan is here. Let’s get up!”
