Elias’s POV

“Besides, I’m your wife, Elias. It’s my job to try—try to understand you, to see things from your perspective so I can stand by your side completely, as I should.”

My knees gave out. I collapsed into my chair and clutched at my shirt. With every word she spoke and every look she gave me, my heart raced uncontrollably. I felt it in my chest, in my throat, in every cell of my body—an overwhelming surge of relief and gratitude.

To know I’ll always have someone beside me.
