Maya’s POV
“I’m scared, Thomas,” I admitted, my fingers brushing the warm ceramic of my soup bowl. “He knows. He looked me in the eye and said my name as if I were exactly the same person he’d known before. He didn’t even hesitate.”
Thomas sank back in his chair, tension creasing his brow as he listened. We’d rushed home from the Brooks mansion, and he’d kindly ordered me a bowl of soup—some comfort food to calm my nerves—and let me tell him everything.
