Chapter 52
Faith Kyle kept running in the darkness, further away from humans and deeper into the heart of the blackwood. She keeps taking twist after twist, different paths, or creating a path when there's none. She climbs up a small hill and descends, also ducking to avoid pine and leaping up when necessary to avoid the root and branch of the huge black wood trees.
Her speed was immense; everything appears blurry on her face, her animal instinct and sense leading the way and directing her. Her head was full of what happened some hours ago. She couldn't believe it. She had killed someone. She was aware of this, unlike the drunken men from the blocked road back at her apartment. She wasn't sure whether she had killed them.
She was drowning in her thoughts. It was the thought that she had fed when her mate was around. How will he look at her? How will he react once they meet again? All these questions clouded her thoughts.
She could still remember her feeding scene, fresh
