Chapter 67

Damien’s POV

“What exactly is that?” I asked as Sonia dragged me along through the party and straight up to the balcony.

“Something important.” She said it with so much hesitation in her voice, like there was something she found out that made her heart wrench.

Just along the way to the balcony, I heard a loud slap on my face.

It went hazy for a minute, and I could hear another slap go around, but definitely not on my face.

What just happened—or was I dreaming? I clearly wasn’t, I thought to myself.

I managed to look up after experiencing a loud knockout on my face.

“You little pest, why wouldn’t you just leave my brother alone? You ain’t even all that!” I heard Sonia yell at the top of her voice. It was so loud that I finally realized that the music in the background had stopped and everyone had just focused their on us.

The person she happened to be yelling at was nobody other than Joan.

“You freak, you slapped me!” Joan
