The footsteps got closer until the person was finally inside the ward. He waved in Lila’s face and satisfied that she was sleeping, then proceeded to go to Madison who was fast asleep.

Yes, it was a male and he was dressed in a nurse’s outfit. In fact, he wore the uniform of the hospital’s workers with the badge on it.

He took out a syringe and fixed the needle to it. He was going to inject Madison while she was asleep.

“What are you doing?” Lila asked from behind him as he was about to inject Madison.

The man froze, he did not utter a word, he just stood there—muted.

“I’m talking to you, right?” Lila asked, getting up on her feet.

“I-I…I just wanted to…” the man could not come up with a complete statement. He was nervous and Lila could sense it.

“You wanted to do what?” Lila asked him.

“I just came to check on Madison just as the doctor asked me to,” the man said, while still backing Lila.
