Chapter 39
“Powell James!”
It was the name on Sia’s caller ID—the same man who was accused of fraud and also sacked by the company. Madison was trying to determine why Powell James would have to call Sia.
Sia’s eyes gaped as she wondered what it was that got Madison to be quiet halfway through what she was about to say.
Nevertheless, Sia walked up to Madison’s desk to pick up the call.
“How can I be this stupid?” she chided herself after realizing why Madison was suddenly quiet.
Sia busied the call. “He’s been seeking financial assistance from me ever since he was thrown out.” Sia had to say because she knew that would be the next thing Madison would ask.
“I didn’t know you two were that close,” Madison told her.
“We were. He was my mentor.” Sia feigned a disappointed voice as she spoke.
“It’s okay,” Madison said to Sia.
Sia was lucky to have escaped such a careless act. Madison didn’t suspect a thing because of how fondness she had for Sia
