Chapter 40

Nathan and Madison arrived at Lila’s house very early in the morning. They were there to pick up Mark, for him to come to live with them just as they had planned long ago. It was also in their contract. Lila was going to miss him so much. She couldn’t even think of a day passing without her seeing him. She hugged him very warmly:

“I will miss you a lot, sweetheart.”

She wished Madison had given her enough time to say goodbye to Mark. Madison had only called the night before to tell her of her decision.

They had talked about it several times before that day, but Lila thought it would never be realized. She should have known that the day would come.
