Chapter 97

The silence that followed after the gun went off rhymed with the static position of Tina.

Vera froze, Lila as well. In fact, Vera held her breath as long as she could after hearing the gun go off. She almost choked, that was when she allowed herself to breathe again.

“Henry!” Vera screamed his name.

“I-I didn’t mean to,” he stammered to say.

Tina was still frozen by the door of the car.

What was to be the next reaction? They all waited to see, patiently.

“Was she hit?” Lila asked, hoping that she was. She did not have to wait too long to get an answer to that question because slowly, Tina began descending to the ground.

“Tina! Tina!” Vera said twice as she ran to hold her.

Tina had blood oozing out of her nose and mouth. A vital organ must have been damaged when the bullet penetrated her body.
