Chapter 58. Empty Void
Rachel was called in for breakfast, but she must have the embarrassing morning she can ever experience. When she came down towards the grand staircase, Mrs. Littlewick ran to her, holding both of her cheeks, and asking if she was alright.
In fact, after sleeping on the floor for the rest of the night, Rachel’s heart is similar to an empty void. It can’t restart for it to be joyful again, or even alive at some point. She was stuck in having the most greyish days possible with the guilt she’s planting in her heart.
Rachel had to be cautious of endangering herself in jumping off the river again. Not because she couldn’t see her worth in love unlike before, but by seeing herself as a failure by betraying her own feelings, and the guilt would continue to gnaw on her.
