Chapter 67

After a few seconds of silence, the Lieutenant finally speaks.

“Is that so now?” He asks, and I feel like I’m being questioned by a lecturer at college.

“Yes, I can email it to you this moment,” I reply.

Chad's eyes look hopeful as he watches me speak to the Lieutenant.

“This is a pleasant surprise, I didn’t expect you to get the job done this soon.” He confesses.

“I must applaud you.” He compliments and a sense of guilt washes over me.

The Lieutenant was not killed by me, I am just taking credit for what I did not do.

“Are you still there?” Russell asks and his words pull me from my thoughts. I think he said something, but I did not quite catch it.

“I’m here. I’m here.” I answer.

Chad is giving me a look. I’m guessing he is wondering why I froze up while talking to Russell.

“I said that you should do that, email the proof to me,” Russell says calmly.

“Of course, sir. I would do just that. And the money?” I inquire.
