“Quincy?” My dad asks as he scoops up chocolate ice cream out of the small bucket.

“Mmmhmm,” I say, my mouth full of ice cream.

“Today is a school day, why didn’t you go to school?” He asks me and I almost choke on my ice cream.

I should have gone to sleep but after I argued with my dad last night, I fell asleep and slept for so long, not taking notice of the time.

“I overslept,” I say to him and he makes a face. Well, he doesn’t look like he’s going to kill me so I’m safe I guess.

“How was Hawaii?” I ask, clearing the last bit of ice cream from my ice cream bucket.

I see my dad's face light up, I can tell by his facial expression that he would love to share his trip experiences with me.
