Chapter 24

The sound of the gun going off makes me close my eyes instinctively.

“What the hell?!” Chad asks loudly as he enters the house running.

I finally open my eyes and I see confeno time, I hear a steady beep as if he’s making a call.

“Russell?” I ask excitedly as I close the distance between him and me.

“He might not answer. I’m using the secure line he used to contact me at first, and usually the link breaks, but I was able to retrieve it from the database.” He explains and I nod as if I can understand him.

“You don’t understand, do you?” He asks as he chuckles.

“Nope,” I say, popping the p.

“Speak English, bro,” I add.

“It was impossible to call Russell, but I made it possible.” He says with a proud smirk.

“That’s my best friend,” I say as I hug him, causing him to laugh.

“Hello?” A voice startles us and we both compose ourselves.

The voice is coming from the laptop.

“Sir, it’s Chadwick Simmons, Jen’s partner,” Chad says
