She tried to bring his attention to her, “Ethan? Is something wrong with the food? Isn’t it to your liking? I can prepare something else for you.”
She made to get up but he put out his hand to stop her, “I’m perfectly fine with it, there’s no need.”
She tampered down her annoyance at the fact that he wasn’t giving her a chance to stun him with her culinary skills. He was always eager to gobble up Jane’s cooking and didn’t even want to share.
“Are you sure? You haven’t eaten a lot from your plate.”
She tilted her head in a way that she assumed was attractive and tried to hold his hand across the table but he withdrew it.
