Alessa looked at the plate, then carefully and slowly sliced her steak. “Really? Who was with you while you were eating there?”

Elijah did not immediately answer.

She looked up at him, then took a bite of the steak. Alessa was waiting for him to say it was Maegan or another girl, but he smiled.
