Chapter 41
Alessa had just finished dinner when she and Elijah thought of hanging out in the garden at their favorite spot. She looked at the part that was dark last night that now had a light and saw the barbed wire that was placed there.
“Maybe your mood and mind will be calmed down?” said Elijah.
She breathed deeply. “Yes.” That was all he answered, even though she was still not reassured.
“What are you thinking?” Elijah’s face showed his great concern for Alessa.
“N-nothing.” As long as she could hide from Elijah that she was thinking about things related to Maegan, she would do it. She would just keep it all to herself because she was really scared.
“Alessa, I know I always tell you not to overthink, but if you need someone to talk to, I’m right here. What’s bothering you so much?”
Alessa looked at Elijah. “Ever since Maegan got out of jail, I’ve been restless. I know maybe I’m just being paranoid, but I’m really afraid of what she can do against us.”<
