Chapter 22. Feeling Guilty
Alice and Harry were still on the road; they were silent and busy with their own thoughts. Harry had no intention of stopping anywhere; all he wanted was to arrive at the office soon. As for Alice, she was confused by her boss. The man was more silent than talkative, his demeanor changing rapidly.
Alice silently glanced at Harry, her eyes fixed on him. Harry’s face looked stiff, with an expression that was hard to explain—like there was pent-up anger. Alice was very curious, but she felt she had no right to ask questions.
The light turned red, and Harry’s car stopped. Alice stared out of the car window and watched the other vehicles queuing up, but despite the awkward atmosphere, she still tried to act casual, as if nothing had happened. Alice respected her boss and didn’t want to make him feel uncomfortable because of her curiosity.
“Alice, let’s go straight back to the office.” Harry’s voice broke the silence, the man telling Alice their next destination.
