Chapter 27
Paul's POV
As another day began, the sound of the time clock punching echoed through the halls of the hospital. It was early in the morning, much too early for Josh to be awake. However, there he was, sitting in his wheelchair, waiting for me. I pushed him through the hallways, his dextrose at his side. I was not sure why he had asked me to accompany him all of a sudden, but I could tell he was getting restless after being confined to his room for almost a week now.
As we made our way through the hospital, Josh spoke up, his voice filled with concern, "Where on earth is Bea?" His question was not directed at me; it was more like a thought he needed to express.
I stopped pushing and turned to face him. "Hey," I said, trying to catch his attention. "Are you her father? You seem to worry about her a lot."
