Bonita’s eyes filled with affection as she looked into Tom’s eyes, and his heart ached. He couldn’t believe this was true and refused to accept it. He preferred to think that she was his biological daughter.
“Bonita, is your mind affected by the accident? Don’t say such delusional things. Rest for now; I’ll find a doctor to examine you thoroughly.” Tom felt scared and stood up, wanting to leave temporarily.
“Dad!” Bonita called out in sadness.
Tom’s body stiffened, and he turned to look at Bonita on the bed with an expression of anguish.
“Dad, when we met ten years ago, it was a... mistake. I’m not your biological daughter.” Bonita choked up, trying to be clear in her words, but her emotions overwhelmed her, making it difficult to speak clearly.
Adam noticed Tom’s weakened state and quickly helped him sit back on the chair.
