Kaytly gazed at the woman before her, feeling a strong sense of familiarity but unable to remember where they had met.
“Who are you?” she asked.
“I’m Rebecca,” the woman replied with a friendly smile, her face hinting shyness.
“Oh, it’s you! I remember now. We met at Kenneth’s, right? I couldn’t recall earlier,” Kaytly said, laughing with Rebecca.
Facing the woman who had once taken away her happiness, Kaytly was surprised at her composure. Perhaps true happiness is about letting go, and if it can be snatched away, then it was never indeed hers.
“Do you need a place to stay now?” Rebecca asked, noticing the suitcase in Kaytly’s hand and offering help.
Kaytly hesitated momentarily and then shrugged slightly, “The landlord rented out my room to someone else, so I’m currently looking for a new place. I guess I’ll have to find a hotel to stay temporarily tonight.”
