Chapter 36. Failed Investigation
Carla marvelled at the large tents, varying shades of brown, green, blue and white that blended perfectly with the picturesque woods and lined the peaceful street.
It looked like a scene from some hipster festival Caroline would drag her to and the colourful garlands stuck to the top of large poles, bracketing each tent and swaying in the soft breeze, added to the aesthetic.
Her bag swung in step with her and stopped when she paused to stare at one of the white tents, stationed a little farther away from the other with a large rainbow, peeking out of some clouds, sketched along its side.
The mundaneness of seeing young children, happy and playing in the courtyard, with a sprinkling of adults watching over them, stunned Carla so much she hardly noticed when she began walking closer.
This close, she could see the sigil of an open book embroidered on either side of the tent's entrance, letting her know it was some kind of daycare or preschool.
