Jessica blinked hard. Blinked again just to be sure.

Why was Richard doing this to her?

She admitted defeat by returning; that much she had made her peace with, which is why she was sitting pretty in the cell. Of course, one had to consider that it had been months since she had human blood from the vein. Testimony in itself.

Subduing the killer instinct was the hardest of them all, especially since she already had a taste of it.

But now Richard, her trusted friend, the die-hard crush, was tormenting her by dropping a human in her cell.

Well, not exactly a human. She smelled like a witch, but her powers were yet to get activated. There was an air of dormancy around her.

Unlike other vampires, she was gifted with a very exaggerated sense of smell. She could perceive powers.
