I never like it when Rainer comes home injured. The gashes Opal left on him have healed by the time I see him, so there’s no reason to drag him to the clinic to get checked over by Dr. Martin. He tells me that Lex is in worse shape and is being treated by the doctor at Scarlett Thunder. Opal is in the worst condition of all–since she’s dead.
“She’s dead?” I look at him in disbelief. “How?”
“I ran a silver sword through her heart. I had to stop her. She already injured Lex and would probably go after Kane next. She couldn’t be reasoned with.”
“Does Kane know?”
“He was there. Since Lex is unconscious, he had to get Lex’s second to take over running Castle Blackmoor in the meantime.”
