Chapter 44. Bane of Your Existence

Dinner with Papa was more exciting than I thought it would be. As we ate and chatted, I didn't remember why I was so tense.
Papa and I haven't chatted like that in so long. Our talks were always short and about business.
I climbed up the stairs as I went to the restroom, my head light and clear. Today has been really draining, so ending it this way wouldn't be so bad.
Just as I was about to enter one of the nearest restrooms, a door opened behind me. I turned and my heart missed a beat.
Medea was just stepping out from a room, a robe wrapped around her body, her hair tied out. She paused when she saw me, her expression looking equally shocked. But that shock quickly cleared and was replaced with a cold smile.
“So this was why he told me not to come down tonight,” she said, taking slow steps towards me.
And just like, the food in my stomach turned sour, and the feeling of lightness evaporated into thin
