While feeling left out and like a complete fool, and while I asked that question, I was looking at Kade, expecting him to at least spare me a single glance, but he didn't, and Gianna answered.
“I thought Medea would admit to her crimes,” Gianna said, her voice bitter, and I finally managed to peel my eyes off Kade and look at Gianna. “But she didn't say anything that would help us. All she did was run her mouth. And somehow, she knew I was recording the conversation.”
“She’s smarter than we thought,” Kade grumbled. “We shouldn't underestimate her.”
“I've never underestimated Medea,” I muttered, looking at the elevator door, but I wasn't even seeing it. “Not one bit. She always has something up her sleeve. She always has cards to play.”
“But we didn't think she would go this far,” Gianna mumbled.
I nodded. “She caught us off guard. But… but how did she manage to pull this off? She couldn't have done this alone.”
