Chapter 3
Three thousand kilometres separated Dark from the Royal Moon Pack, but the news Julie had just delivered bridged that gap, filling Rebecca with elation. For the past three weeks, she had been burdened by the weight of Simara's escape. Simara had vanished from the pack, leaving behind chaos and an empty pack vault, a painful betrayal that had tested Rebecca's leadership.
Rebecca had originally welcomed Simara into the pack as a gesture of goodwill, an extension of her kind-hearted nature. Little did she know that it would become a grave mistake, casting a dark shadow over her leadership. The pack had suffered from constant rogue attacks, internal conflicts, and weak border defences, which had compounded Rebecca's challenges.
Determined to restore order, Rebecca had contemplated signing a treaty with another pack to stabilize her own and fulfil the needs of her pack members. Despite boasting one of the largest numbers of pack members on the continent, the Royal Moon Pack lacked strength, unity, and cooperation among its members. Running this pack had become Rebecca's greatest headache.
At the age of eighteen, Rebecca Moon unexpectedly inherited the title of Luna, becoming the leader of the pack, a role she had never desired. It had been thrust upon her as the daughter of an Alpha, and she had reluctantly accepted it. Her parents had proudly watched as she assumed her new role, envisioning a future where the pack thrived.
Rebecca's dedication had led her to spend long hours in her office, crafting intricate plans and strategies to change the minds of the older pack members. However, despite her tireless efforts, it had become evident that the older wolves remained resistant to change. Undeterred, she had decided to focus on the younger generation, hoping to prevent them from succumbing to the same corruption as their parents.
Mandatory training sessions for the young wolves were instituted, and Rebecca also invested pack resources in establishing a training institute. She had started to spend more time with her pack members, striving to understand their problems and resolve issues. Throughout her journey, two steadfast companions stood by her side: her best friend, Julie Silver, and Julie's boyfriend, Simon Abel, who eventually assumed the roles of Beta and Delta, managing pack affairs.
After four years of hard work, Rebecca had successfully built a formidable guard for the pack, composed of young, trained werewolves. The problems posed by the older wolves began to diminish, and the pack experienced a period of relative peace and growth.
However, the tranquillity was short-lived. Rogue attacks had begun plaguing the pack a year ago, causing panic among its members. After six months of relentless struggles, Rebecca, Julie, and Simon had managed to quell the attacks, only for Simara to arrive, seeking refuge within the pack. Little did Rebecca know that this decision would prove to be a disastrous mistake.
Currently, Rebecca found herself deeply entrenched in her office duties, meticulously managing intricate alliances with other packs. She tirelessly navigated the complexities of these negotiations, seeking to ensure her pack's stability and prosperity in an ever-changing landscape.
Julie, her faithful best friend, adeptly handled the day-to-day challenges that beset the pack, deftly resolving conflicts among pack members, and skillfully recruiting new blood to strengthen their ranks. Her commitment to maintaining harmony within the pack was unwavering.
Simon, on the other hand, assumed the crucial role of overseeing the pack's training institute. His dedication to this responsibility was unwavering, as he sought to shape the future warriors of their pack, moulding them into a formidable force that would safeguard their territory.
And then there was Garrick Fols, the pack doctor, whose contributions extended far beyond the realm of medical care. He played a pivotal role in the education of young wolves, ensuring that they received the knowledge and skills they needed to thrive. His influence extended into various domains, from training nurses to volunteers for the pack's schools and even shaping the architectural endeavours of the pack.
Despite the endless toil and challenges that Rebecca had faced during her four-year tenure as the pack's leader, her determination remained unbroken. The recent theft of the pack's wealth by Simara had left her disheartened and fatigued, pushing her to the brink. However, Julie's revelation that Simara had finally been tracked down breathed new life into her weary spirit.
With hope rekindled, Rebecca knew that the impending return of Simara held the promise of resolution to their current crisis, but little did she realize the profound impact this event would have on her life and the fate of her pack.
Unbeknownst to her, Simara's return would not only resolve her current crisis but also alter the course of Rebecca's life and the fate of her pack.
Three thousand kilometres away, standing on the seashore, Crysler Dark held his phone tightly in his hands, a look of curiosity in his eyes as he asked, "Why did you call me?"
Simara's voice trembled with panic as she replied, "Brother, I'm in deep trouble. I pulled off a major robbery from a pack, and now they've tracked me down. I don't know what to do. Please, you have to help me get out of here."
Dark's expression turned cold, his voice icy as he inquired further, "You robbed a pack? What's the pack's name?"
"Royal Moon Pack," Simara confessed, her voice quivering with fear.
Dark's face betrayed an expression, not of anger, but of malevolence. "How can I reach you?" he demanded.
"Go to Master Waslof. He's hiding in a cabin south of the Royal Moon Pack. He can help you track me," Simara explained, her words rushed and anxious.
With a sense of cold determination, Dark responded to Simara, his voice laced with assurance, "Alright, don't worry. I'll make my way there soon." He ended the call abruptly, not bothering to await further details.
As the connection severed, a malevolent smirk slowly stretched across Dark's face, casting eerie shadows upon his features. His initial plan hadn't accounted for such a fortuitous turn of events. Simara's blunder had unwittingly paved the way for him to infiltrate the Royal Moon Pack, and he relished the prospect of exploiting this unforeseen advantage to further his own sinister mission.
