Chapter 18. The Most Desirable Tribute

Louis’s POV

Once I am sure Lotus is asleep, I slip from her room. It will be the first time since she has arrived that none of us are with her, but my brothers and I need to talk. What we witnessed in the infirmary isn’t normal.

I can already hear Levi’s raised voice on the other side of the office door. He isn’t angry. No. This is different. There is an edge to his voice that I haven’t heard since we took over as the Winter Alphas. He is afraid, and to be honest, so am I. We never planned on bringing home a tribute, and now it appears we have brought home the most desirable one.

When I open the door, I see Levi pacing in front of the fireplace. His already pale skin lacks any color, giving him a greenish hue, and when he turns to look at me, his eyes are bloodshot.

“We have to mark her.” The words tumble from his mouth so quickly that I am sure I misheard him.
