Chapter 26. We Have to Strike First

Lotus’s POV

Lennox is sleeping soundly on the couch in the corner of my room, but sleep evades me. I toss and turn on the soft bed. Even after months here at the Winter Pack, I haven’t gotten used to the softness of it. Sitting up, I punch the pillow, trying to make it flatter, before I flop back down.

Just as I think my eyes might begin to flutter shut, my bedroom door flies open. Levi rushes in and yanks Lennox off the couch. “We have to go.”

Lennox’s body hits the floor with a sickening thud, and he moans loudly. “What?”

“There has been a raid,” Levi’s words rush from his mouth. “The Summer Pack is in one of the cities, stealing women from their homes.”

My throat grows thick. “Which city?”

Even though my voice is low, I know Levi hears me, but he doesn’t reply. Lennox’s eyes flicker to me for a moment, but he doesn’t speak either.

“We need to leave now,” Levi urges him.

Rising from the floor, Lennox is out of the room quickly
