Chapter 27. The Healer

Lotus’s POV

The car pulls up to the palace, and I take several deep breaths before I follow the triplets up the stairs. Now the Crescent Realm knows what I am, and I fear that I won’t be able to hide any longer. My life is no longer my own, and I know I will have to let the triplets claim me if I am to remain safe.

My feet drag on each step, as if the weight of the truth is on my shoulders. Before I can reach the top of the stairs, screams fill the silence around me.

“Please,” a woman begs.

“Alphas don’t deal with humans,” a guard spits at her, and I turn with curiosity.

A woman, barefoot in the snow, is clutching a child to her chest. They are both wrapped in rags. “Please,” she begs again. “I must see the woman who glows with light.”

My feet carry me in her direction as she tries to fight her way to the palace. The guards hold her back with unnecessary force, but she doesn’t give up.

“Stop,” I scream.

The guards turn to me, an
