Chapter 55. Peace Summit
Lennox’s POV
The council chamber of the Winter Palace has never felt smaller. Too many bodies, too many Alphas, and too many tempers pressed into one room. The long table stretches between us, meant to symbolize unity. Tonight, it feels like a line in the snow.
On one side sit the Winter Pack’s commanders, Roman and two of his rogues, and the Summer Alpha with his advisors. On the other side, the emissaries from Spring and Autumn Packs, but not the ones we are used to seeing. These are warriors with their jaws clenched. Their eyes are narrowed in our direction, ready to pick a fight. The air is thick with a quiet mistrust, the kind of quiet that comes before a storm.
And at the head of the table, the chair meant for Alpha Alister of the Autumn Pack is empty. I try not to let my anger at his absence eat at me, but Levi is struggling to remain calm. Now that he has marked Lotus, his anger and vengeance are only growing.
