The courtyard is chaos. I can barely tell who’s alive and who’s dead. Somewhere in the wreckage, I can still hear Louis’s name being shouted, broken, and torn from Levi’s throat.

I shift before the thought can finish forming. My bones crack, my muscles twist, my fur tears through my skin. The pain is sharp, clean, and welcome.
