Chapter 85. The News

Lotus’s POV

Louis insists on telling them himself. He also insists on carrying me through the palace. He holds me close to his chest, not caring that everyone is looking at us.

By the time we reach the private council room, Lennox and Levi are already waiting. The moment they see Louis’s too excited face, and me in his arms, they both stiffen.

“What happened?” Lennox asks immediately, stepping forward. His eyes flick to me, scanning for injury. “Is she okay?”

“I’m fine,” I say quickly, shimmying myself out of his arms.

Louis grins, leaning against the doorframe. “Better than fine.”

Levi’s brows draw together. “You’re smiling like you just stole the moon. What’s going on?”

Louis looks at me, and for a moment, the noise in the room fades. There’s an excitement there, and I know I won’t be able to keep it secret for long.

I take a slow breath. “I saw Mirelle this morning.”

Lennox frowns. “The medic? Why? What’s wrong?”
