Chapter 38. The Inquisition
He turned a corner, and this hallway has more torches compared to the Slaves and Omegas who he can see through the bars, crowded within a cell with five or six of them.
This one seemed to be reserved for a VIP—a very important prisoner.
Alain sent a tendril of his power around him, dimming each light even when the flames were dancing merrily. The Beta on the door lifted his head to his direction as he felt his presence.
He at last arrived at the door, the metal and rusty appearance of it no doubt holds Sasha beyond.
He knocked. Once, twice.
Beta Russel, Ansel’s Beta, remained on the side. Lingering. Waiting. Perhaps even spying for the Fire Moon Pack’s cunning young Alpha.
“You may leave,” he ordered to the Beta. He stiffened and waited for Alain to say more, but the Shadow Alpha just let the quietude sink deeper. And deeper.
