Each footstep down the hall was taking me closer and closer to the fate that awaited me. I know the mysterious voice, who hadn’t even bothered to tell me his name, had told me that I’d be okay, but I couldn’t help the fear that flooded through me. The others would devour me tonight, and nothing I could do would stop them. Warren wrapped an arm around my shoulders, pulling me to him. I melted into his heat. Desperate for the contact.

“I’m scared,” I whispered.

His arm tightened. “I’ll be here, Princess. No matter how bad it gets, I’ll be here, just focus on me, okay?”
