I don’t know when I woke up. My world went from dark and blurry, just the faint beating of my mate and the pain that we all shared to the barest of light. A warm hand gripped mine, big wet tears soaking it.
“Paxton,” she sobbed.
I forced my eyes open. Erina sat at my bedside, her ribs bandaged, her face with gauze wrapped around all the cuts and bruises Eagon had delivered. And yet, she sat there with her palm in my hand, crying for me.
“Lord Paxton,” my loyal guard bowed his head to me. Upon closer inspection, this was the one I’d shared that moment with Erina.
