Chapter 52. The Weight Of Love and Light

Stella POV

As I chanted, a warmth began to course through my veins. I could feel it spreading through Damon’s body, and when I finally opened my eyes, I saw his soul—now a pure white—slowly returning to him. I had used a basic healing spell, just enough to help his body function properly again. Once I had exerted my power, I paused, panting and waiting for the magic to take effect. I tried to recall if I had followed the process correctly.

“How long until Damon wakes up?” Julie asked.

“I don’t know,” I muttered. We sat and waited. I checked my watch; six hours had passed, and dawn would soon break. Suddenly, I heard a sharp gasp. My exhausted eyes snapped to Damon, who was now slowly sitting up with Dexter’s help. I checked his pulse—it was normal, but his temperature was still dangerously high, as if he had a severe fever.

“We should take him to the hospital. He’s still in a weakened state,” I murmured.

“No, I’m fine,” Damon’s weak voi
