“To your disappointment, I didn't kill your husband, Kellan,” Kayden said, meeting my gaze. I wasn't sure whether to trust his words or take his confession at face value. “I see you don't trust me.”

“It's not that, Kayden, I mean—” I stuttered.

“You can be honest with me, Stella. I don't mind. If I were in your shoes, having lost someone I love and sitting across from a suspect who could be a killer, and given that I am a wolf, an enemy to Lycan after all, I wouldn't trust my enemy either,” Kayden spoke as if he could read my mind.

“I guess you know why I'm here then,” I said.

“I do. The moment you walked in, I knew,” Kayden replied.

“How can you be so good at reading people?” I asked
