Ares POV
I lean back in the seat with my hand resting on the steering wheel. I look in the rearview mirror and see Akia in the backseat. She’s out, and she’ll be out for a while. I focus back on the road ahead and continue driving.
It was pretty easy to get to her, and that kind of pisses me off. Don’t misunderstand, I didn’t want to fight a war to get her. I like that I didn’t have to exert too much energy. I’m mad because if it’s that easy to get to her, my pack is not going to fare well in the future.
There should have been guards on her and more eyes on every inch of packlands. If this is how the pack is going to be run, things will fall apart a lot faster than they should. Maybe it was wrong to put Atlas in charge of the pack. Perhaps I need to consider coming back around, after a while, and taking over the pack from him.
