Atlas POV

Akia and I walk through the open field behind the packhouse. We are walking next to each other, occasionally brushing against each other. Neither of us has said anything, and the silence is a bit uncomfortable. I guess the issue is the presence of Ares.

My brother has always been different, always been off. I’ve tried to be understanding and supportive of him and his behavior. I’ve never wanted to come down on him too harshly because my father does that enough for a lifetime. I wanted to give him something different, especially after our mom left.

This behavior from him isn’t new, but it’s new at the same time. He and I have never had these kinds of dust-ups with each other; this is more what happens between Apollo and Ares. I feel off having this craziness between us, especially since it’s over a girl.
