Chapter 242. I’m Always Here for You

Before Lee left for Milano, I saw her efforts to talk to me. She tried waking up early just to catch me before I headed off for my hospital duty, and she even found out my break times. But I was the one finding ways to avoid her, because deep down, I knew that if we talked, I might break down again. I was certain that the memories of our first life would come rushing back—the stories she told me about how we tried to change everything, how she tried to stop the stalker from killing Kara and Jackson.

I wasn’t ready to deal with that yet. So, I kept my distance, burying myself in my duties, hoping it would keep my mind occupied.

I think Lee sensed that I didn’t want to talk, because after two attempts to find me, where I purposely avoided her, she eventually stopped. I only found out that night, when Auntie brought me dinner, that Lee had already left for Milan.

After finishing the dinner Auntie brought and chatting with her about my day at work, I
