Before heading to my shift, I stopped by the mall to look for a gift for Tate. I already had something in mind, so I knew exactly where to go.

As I walked through the mall, I silently hoped the item I wanted hadn’t sold out. When I finally reached the department store and saw the stall carrying what I had been looking for, excitement surged through me. I couldn’t help but jump a little. The saleslady noticed and smiled. “You seem really happy, sir!” she said with a chuckle.

After buying the gift, I headed to another stall to have it wrapped since it was meant for Tate. With that done, I left the mall and made my way to the hospital, arriving right on time. There was no need to rush.

But the moment I stepped into Parkertown General Hospital, before I could set down my things or clock in, a doctor hurried over to me.

“Asher, quick! I need you to assist me now. We’re short-staffed, and we’ve got a lot of patients coming in.”
