It would have made you even more attached to the previous lives you’ve lived… and I didn’t want that to happen, Lee. I just didn’t.”

I reached out, gripping her arms gently but firmly with both hands. My fingers trembled as I pinched her sleeves slightly, desperate for her to understand. “Please, Lee, understand that I don’t want you to become more like me. I don’t want you to keep dwelling on the past. I want you to live this lifetime… to really live it, without worrying about the past or even the future. I’ll carry that burden for the both of us, okay? I’ve been carrying it for two lifetimes already, and you don’t have to worry about me. You don’t need to.”
